The Future School Leadership Programme (FSLP)

PROBLEM

School leaders are rarely provided relevant training and sustained support to deliver on their roles as managers of school stakeholders and leaders of school development. The focus shifts disproportionately to administrative issues and diminishes their influence in the pivotal role they play in bettering learning outcomes. School Leaders thus struggle to effectively manage under-resourced schools and address poor performance.

SOLUTION

The Future School Leadership Programme is a professional development programme for School Leaders that strengthens their leadership and management capacities, enabling them to improve the management, governance and standards of their schools.

DESIGN

An 80-100 hours  intervention spread across a year for Head Teachers (HTs)/ School Principals. The programme leverages a multi-modal approach to build school leaders' Strategic, Managerial and Academic leadership capacities, while also focusing on building their aspirations.

HTs improved their knowledge as a result of participation in the school leadership training with Students possessing class appropriate competencies from FSLP schools was higher  than the state average (in Utkarsh assessments 2021-2022)
